The runway presentation started 45 minutes late, prompting some impatient fashion-types to storm off, according to reports.
When actual living, breathing models including Hailey Baldwin made an appearance on the runway, they sported black lace, figure-hugging black dresses, veils and references to traditional Catholic attire from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s latest line, dubbed “Fashion Devotion”.
The collection included pieces emblazoned with the slogans “Love is Love” and “Fashion is Beauty”, with lots of crosses and crowns and priest-inspired dresses.
The night before, Dolce & Gabbana held a secret show at a venue in downtown Milan, attended by models and millennials wearing crystal-covered party dress and playsuits.
Also in Milan, Tommy Hilfiger presented his final collaboration with supermodel Gigi Hadid, dubbed TommyNow Drive.
“I feel like this collection is one that I really feel that I learned the most with,” Hadid said.
She opened the show, and also closed it, walking at the end with Hilfiger.
While this show marked the end of the hugely successful TommyXGigi collaboration, Hilfiger said they would “always be close”.
